On Saturday, August 9, 2025, the 6th Edition of the Gathering of Givers organized by CivSource Africa and NGO Forum Uganda took place at Ndere Cultural Centre in Kampala from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the air was full with life, stories, movement and above all generosity what we lovingly call Omutima Omugabi, “our generous spirit.”

This isn’t just another event, it’s Uganda’s first outdoor philanthropy festival where giving is more than a transaction but a celebration of Ubuntu ‘’our shared humanity’’.

Over 200 changemakers, philanthropists and youth leaders connected through rhythm, movement and uplifting conversation each gesture a sign of love, shared purpose and communal hope.

This gathering brings generosity out into the open right from stories told to voluntary acts reminding everyone that every act of giving matters and this event created a living “heart” of generosity where participants weren’t just observers but they were the event.

Situated at a cultural hub, the festival intertwined together tradition, art and compassion making giving feel both personal and communal.

Omutima Omugabi which in English translates to The Heart That Gives

“Omutima Omugabi” captures the essence of giving in Uganda not just a purposed act but a way of being which is about giving time, warmth, stories and skills.

At the Gathering of Givers, this spirit was alive in every handshake, dance and shared memory. Let us give. Let no one leave without feeling the warmth of Omutima Omugabi.”

Looking Ahead, Events like this remind us that giving isn’t about big gestures; it’s about being present, sharing what you can and building community one act at a time.

Whether it’s a story, a helping hand or just listening, you already carry Omutima Omugabi in your own way.
