At Wezesha Girls Network, we believe that when we come together, we have the power to inspire and uplift the next generation. This belief came to life on the 29th October 2025 during our Post-International Day of the Girl Child (IDGC2025) engagement held at The Olive School Namugongo where members of our network and partners joined hands to share encouragement, wisdom and hope with young learners.

Together with our different member Organisations, we spent the afternoon engaging with pupils in different discussions that emphasized discipline, respect, time management, healthy living and the value of education. Each partner had the opportunity to share a message that reminded learners to believe in their dreams and never let challenges define their future.

We strongly believe that empowering young minds through mentorship and open real-life conversations creates lasting impact. The pupils were especially inspired by the #ChildRaiseChild project which is an important reminder that young people have the capacity to make significant contributions toward making our societies better.

One of the most memorable highlights of the day was a session on the importance of building a reading culture. Pupils were challenged to read at least one story every month as a way of expanding their imagination, knowledge and understanding of the world. As one of our Co-Founders shared, “Reading opens minds, builds imagination and offers a chance to learn from different writers, their ideas and lived experiences.”

In addition to these conversations, the day’s activities included a tree planting session. We were honoured to hand over tree seedlings to the school as part of our continued commitment to promoting environmental sustainability. This simple yet powerful act reminded everyone present that #DoingGood doesn’t always require much but it can be as simple as planting a tree, caring for nature or protecting your surroundings. Each tree planted symbolized hope, growth and a collective responsibility for a greener tomorrow.

We are deeply grateful to The Olive School administration for welcoming us and to all our members for showing up with so much heart and eagerness. Your presence and words of encouragement reminded us that true impact begins when we come together sharing what we have, lifting one another and giving where we are.

At Wezesha Girls Network Uganda, our mission remains clear: We are committed to advancing girls’ education because every girl deserves the chance to learn, dream and lead. Through collaboration and partnership, we continue to raise our voices, take action and create opportunities that empower girls to thrive. When girls are educated, communities flourish and nations transform. As we reflect on this beautiful day, we celebrate every member, partner and supporter who made it possible. May we continue nurturing this powerful spirit of unity, compassion and purpose. Because when girls rise, we all rise.
