On June 27th, 2026, the streets of Gulu were full with purpose as runners, activists and community members gathered for the fourth edition of the Gulu Menstrual Hygiene Run, rallying under the powerful theme: “Run for Dignity”. We believe that dignity is not selective, It doesn’t pause for poor girls from poor background neither for the time when money for pads is available or whether it is women with  disabilities, Menstruation happens everyday and it is normal.

This year’s Gulu Menstrual Hygiene Run raised support for over 1,000 girls to access menstrual health resources and that was witnessed through runner’s participation which created a different kind of impact, the quiet transformation that happens when a girl is empowered to lead her own narrative.

Together with partners like Her Worth Foundation, Transcend Africa Foundation and others Wezesha is working to create a period friendly world where girls are able to menstruate with dignity without fear of stigma is not the exception but the norm. Where accessibility is never an afterthought and where dignity runs freely for every girl everywhere.

The Menstrual Hygiene Run was more than a race but it is a reminder that courage comes in many forms and always with heart as long as there are girls and communities are ready to rally behind them, no finish line is out of reach.

The Gulu Menstrual Hygiene Run managed to raise funds to provide menstrual kits to over 1,000 girls. Wezesha Girls Network participation showed that small acts can make a big difference. By partnering with organizations like the Her Worth Foundation, they are helping to create a more inclusive community where every girl feels valued.

All in all, The Menstrual Hygiene Run was not just a race, it was a celebration of safe menstruation and showed the power of collaboration and what it can bring.
