At Wezesha Girls Network, we believe that working together creates lasting change. On Tuesday, our Co-Founder Shallote Nayebare, who also leads Amity for humanity initiative Uganda, donated an electric sewing machine to Youth Chaperon Uganda one of our member organizations. This donation was more than just a machine but a symbol of hope, teamwork and the belief that when girls are given skills and support, they can build better futures for themselves and their families.
Many teenage mothers in Uganda face challenges finding jobs or going back to school. Youth Chaperon Uganda has been helping them by offering tailoring, fashion design and other life skills training. With the new sewing machine, Youth Chaperon Uganda will now be able to train even more young mothers and help them start small businesses or find work. “Every stitch sewn by these young mothers is a sign of strength and hope,” said Shallote Nayebare, Co-Founder of Wezesha Girls Network. When we work together, we can help girls live with dignity and achieve their dreams.” Many acts of kindness like this shows the power of partnerships. When organizations under the Wezesha Girls Network umbrella come together, they can do so much more. By sharing tools, knowledge and ideas, they reach more girls and create bigger change.

Mutesi Miriam, the Executive Director of Youth Chaperon Uganda said, ‘This sewing machine will help us train more girls and improve our program. We are so grateful for the support and trust from our partners.’ The donation also supports our campaign #GirlsTakeAction, which encourages girls to be leaders in their communities. It reminds us that when women support each other, amazing things happen.
By giving teenage mothers the chance to learn skills like tailoring, Wezesha Girls Network and its partners are helping them gain confidence, independence and hope for the future. We are committed to continue building strong partnerships that empower girls and young women. Together, we can help more girls gain the skills they need to build a better life. As the new sewing machine starts to work at Youth Chaperon Uganda, it will not just make clothes but it will help create dreams, confidence and new beginnings for many young mothers.
