From August 4 to 9, 2025, Uganda comes alive with the joyous spirit of giving during Philanthropy Week 2025. The six-day celebration sparked by the Annual Philanthropy Symposium and the moving Gathering of Givers brings together local changemakers, generous individuals and passionate organizations to redefine what it means to give.
A Week That Matters
Philanthropy Week is a catalyst for change, in a time of economic shifts and emerging challenges, this week underscores how generosity can spark progress and strengthen community bonds. Acts of giving not just monetary but also time, skills and compassion made their way into public spaces of Kampala. Everyday generosity was on display reminding us that caring for one another is a community affair.
Spirited gathering with the symposium and related forums and sessions, participants ranging from grassroots advocates to seasoned philanthropists explored how localized giving can drive Uganda’s sustainable development. Celebrating Local Ownership, this week shifts focus from external aid to Ugandan-led generosity highlighting that sustainable change begins at home.



Panelists like Ms Hope Nankunda #Hike4GirlsUg, Mr Beyanga of Joe Walker, Omuk Dick Kasolo of #KabakaBirthDayRun and Ms Jackie of #CancerRun showcased different forms of giving, the week inspired more individuals and organizations to participate and contribute beyond donations, the week raises unity, compassion and a renewed understanding of interdependence.
