Wezesha Girls Network continues to stand strong for the rights and empowerment of girls. This year, the organization supported four people to take part in the Teenage Pregnancy Awareness Campaign 2025 2nd Edition, organized by Elgon Ebenezer Young Mothers’ Organisation (EEYMO) in Mbale City.
The campaign took place on 11th October 2025, in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child. It brought together students, young mothers, youth leaders, health workers and community-based organizations to speak out against teenage pregnancy and to promote education, health and opportunities for girls. The Teenage Pregnancy Awareness ccampaign was aimed at raising awareness about the high numbers of teenage pregnancies in Uganda and to find ways to reduce them. It encouraged open discussions about sexual and reproductive health, supported school re-entry for young mothers and helps communities understand the importance of protecting girls’ futures.
During the event, runners took part in activities such as an awareness walk through Mbale City, community dialogues, health education sessions and personal stories shared by young mothers who overcame challenges to rebuild their lives. “This experience opened our eyes. We learned that teenage pregnancy is not just a personal problem but it is a community issue that needs everyone to take action,” said Bwabale Dickson a representative of Wezesha.

The partnership between Wezesha Girls Network and Elgon Ebenezer Young Mothers’ Organisation shows how teamwork and shared goals can make a difference. By supporting one another, organizations can reach more young people and bring hope to girls who some times feel forgotten. “When organizations come together, we can create lasting change,” said Waguti Executive Director Elgon Ebenezer Young Mothers Organisation. Every girl deserves the chance to learn, grow and build her own future.”
Wezesha Girls Network remains committed to empowering girls and young women across the country. The organization will continue working with partners like EEYMO to fight against teenage pregnancy and to promote education and skills training for all girls and through such collaborations, We believes that every girl’s dream is valid and together, we can help her achieve it.
