On International Youth Day 2025, Wezesha Girls Network Uganda proudly joined 11 other outstanding organizations at St. Jude Primary School, Hoima City in a vibrant and purposeful celebration of young people. This was not merely a commemoration, It was a deliberate and strategic gathering to recognise, amplify and invest in the power and potential of Uganda’s youth.
The day’s discussions were active, centering on how we can collectively unlock the potential of youth as innovators, problem-solvers and leaders in their communities. Participants reflected on pressing challenges such as limited access to quality education, unemployment and the absence of platforms to meaningfully amplify young voices. Together organizations explored actionable solutions ranging from creating safe spaces and offering mentorship to opening pathways for skills training and economic empowerment.
For Wezesha Girls Network, the event was a reaffirmation of its mission: empowering girls and young women to thrive as confident leaders and changemakers. The organization shared experiences from its community initiatives, highlighting the impact of youth-led advocacy, mentorship programs and life-skills training in transforming lives and creating ripple effects of positive change.
As a collective We championed SDG 4 & 5 reminding students that education and equality are building blocks for stronger communities and that an empowered student is a change-maker. Moments like these remind the pupils that their dreams are valid and achievable with hard work, discipline and courage. The power of collective voices made the day truly special, leaving every child motivated to unleash their potential and ignite their purpose.
“Young people are not just leaders of tomorrow, they are change-makers of today,” said Mr Dickson Bwambale a representative from Wezesha Girls Network Uganda. “When we invest in their rights, voices and dreams, we are investing in the future of our nation.”

As the day ended, it was clear that the 12 participating organizations share a common vision: a Uganda where young people have the tools, opportunities and support to shape a more inclusive, just and sustainable future.
